Health Care Company That Helps Veterans, Hires Veterans Adding Jobs In Kansas City

Jul 31, 2015

A health care company that serves veterans and their families is adding 500 jobs in Kansas City.

“Our privilege as a corporation is to do one thing,” said David McIntyre, president and CEO of TriWest, “and that is to be there for the federal government to assist them in serving those who serve.”

McIntyre says TriWest picked Kansas City because of Missouri’s “Show-Me Heroes” program, an initiative to get business to hire veterans.

“If you’re looking for an employee who shows up early, stays late, works hard all day and knows how to overcome adversity, hire a veteran,” Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon said.

TriWest has already started hiring nurses and patient service representatives for its Kansas City office, which will open in October. Nixon says TriWest is committed to moving veterans’ resumes to the top of the stack.

TriWest will work directly with veterans to help manage their health care needs.

Kansas City Mayor Sly James, himself a Marine Corps veteran, says the city is a proud participant in the Veterans Economic Communities Initiative.

“It’s more than icing on the cake. It’s the first layer of the cake, with the icing and the cherry, when a company like TriWest choses Kansas City to be a service center for our veterans,” James said.
