KCUR 89.3

Recent controversy surrounding the Presidential Advisory Commission on Election Integrity has put Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach in the nation's limelight. Today, we get an update on the 4-month-old committee. Then, in the aftermath of Hurricanes Harvey and Irma, we get a masterclass from meteorologist Reed Timmer on the science behind severe weather and the adrenaline rush he gets from chasing extreme storms.

Reed Timmer speaks about extreme storm chasing at the Linda Hall Library at 7 p.m. on Thursday, September 14. For more information, visit LindaHall.org.

When I host Up To Date each morning at 9, my aim is to engage the community in conversations about the Kansas City area’s challenges, hopes and opportunities. I try to ask the questions that listeners want answered about the day’s most pressing issues and provide a place for residents to engage directly with newsmakers. Reach me at steve@kcur.org or on Twitter @stevekraske.
