UMKC announced today the firing of Matt Brown, the head coach of the UMKC men's basketball program. Brown led the program for the past six seasons. The handwriting seemed to be on the wall when Athletics DirectorTim Hall was asked three weeks ago about the state of the UMKC men's basketball program.

"It's certainly not where we want it to be," said Hall. "We've made tremendous strides academically. The quality of the young men in the program is first-class. But from a competitive perspective, yeah, we're disappointed."

Hall announced the firing two days after the Roos finished the season with an 8 and 24 record. Matt Brown had one more year on his contract.
