Vote Kansas

It’s the day that will launch a million Thanksgiving arguments. For now, it’s time to cancel out the vote of your brother-in-law.

Google will help you find your polling place. Celia Llopis-Jepsen tells you what you need to make sure you can vote (spoiler alert: if you haven’t registered by now, you brother-in-law wins and you have to keep your damn mouth shut for another two years). Here’s a crib sheet to the Kansas ballot. Beginning at 7 p.m., results will begin to appear here.

Listen up

Here’s your last pre-election roundtable, a speed buffet of the Kansas political landscape.

Before or after you vote, or after you hear the results, here’s the My Fellow Kansans podcast that will entertain you and make you sound smart at your next dinner party. Kansas politics didn’t get where they are by accident.

Judgment day

Nearly six months after ordering a cult leader and his group to pay almost $8 million in damages to a woman they’d effectively enslaved for 10 years, Dan Margolies reports, a federal judge has ordered the cult leader’s arrest.

Royall Jenkins is an over-the-road trucker the founder and leader of The Value Creators Inc., formerly known as the as The United Nation of Islam (a splinter group from the Nation of Islam that Jenkins started after Elijah Muhammad’s death).

A federal court has ruled that The Value Creators, based in Kansas City, Kansas, forced Kendra Ross to work without pay from the time she was 11 years old.

The worst TV? Or the best?

What’s not to like/love about a campaign commercial with its own song, one that rhymes “search for answers” with “folks of Kansas”?

What’s not to adore/despise about a commercial that shows Democratic candidate for secretary of state Brian McClendon, hands on hips, gazing in the distance with a superhero’s cape flapping in the breeze in slow-mo?

How can you not cheer/guffaw when the country singer proclaims the former Google executive “dang sure knows technology”?

Genius comes along so rarely in this world.

More bad TV

Apparently, it’s never too late to convert donor dollars to TV spots. Good news. It’ll be gone tomorrow.
