Program Follows Students from Middle School through College

By Sylvia Maria Gross

Kansas City, MO – Kauffman Scholars Incorporated is a college preparation program that follows public school students for 10 years - through middle school, high school and college. The Kauffman Foundation of Kansas City created the program and endowed it with 70 million dollars. It's now an independent organization with a 19-year mandate. The after-school program enrolled its first class in 2003, and now has about 400 students, all from Kansas City Missouri and Kansas City Kansas public schools and charter schools. Kauffman Scholars president Stephen Green tells Sylvia Maria Gross about the program that provides extra academic support for low-income students with potential.
