Seg. 1: Black Women In Missouri Lead Businesses Growth (R). Seg. 2: Life In A Presidential Family.

Luci Baines Johnson, pictured here in 2014, was just a teenager when her father took the oath of office.

Segment 1: Black women-owned businesses are growing in Missouri.

A report released this year by the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City revealed the growth rate of startups owned by black women exceeds that of any other group. But despite that success, these entrepreneurs face a variety of challenges, including finding financing, advice and support.

Segment 2, beginning at 25:56: Two presidential descendants speak on life with political fame.

Luci Baines Johnson and Clifton Truman Daniel are members of an elite club — one you can only be born into. Today, Baines Johnson shared her stories of living in her father's White House, and Truman Daniel revealed exactly when and how he found out about his grandfather's political post. Both presidential descendants find themselves walking the fine line of carrying on a familial legacy, while simultaneously making a name for themselves.

  • Luci Baines Johnson, daughter of President Johnson, chairman of the board and manager of LBJ Asset Management Partners as well as chairman of the board of BusinesSuites
  • Clifton Truman Daniel, grandson of President Truman, honorary chair of Truman Library Institute, former newpaper writer, editor and public relations professional

Baines Johnson and Truman Daniel will discuss their presidential pedigree at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 12 at Unity Temple on the Plaza, 707 W. 47th St., Kansas City, Missouri 64112. Admission is free but RSVPs are requested. Find out more at TrumanLibraryInstitute.org.
