Governor Jay Nixon will not say that Missouri needs new laws on gun control, mental illness or school safety – but he did tell say that his administration may call for legislation designed to better protect school children from tragedies like the one in Newtown, Connecticut.
Senator Blunt Predicts No Gun Control Passage
In Kansas City, U.S. Senator Roy Blunt said greater control of guns is not the answer and will not pass in Congress in the near future. Blunt also said he thinks negotiators in the Nation’s capital will be able to avert the fiscal cliff, although it may be at the last moment. Learn more here.
Heavy Snow Forecast For North Missouri, Northeast Kansas
The season’s first snow is forecast and for parts of the region, it may be sizeable. Snow amounts for Kansas City are calculated at one to three inches late tomorrow night into Thursday, but for parts of Northern Missouri and Northeast Kansas, as much as 7 inches is possible into Thursday morning. A Winter Storm Watch has been issued by the National Weather Service for a region generally north of the Highway 36 corridor, spanning the northern tier of Missouri counties. Travel may be hazardous on parts of I-29 and I-35.
