What Game 7 Of The World Series Means For One Roadside Shirt Seller

When the Royals won the American League Championship in mid-October, Selim Henderson got busy buying T-shirts.

A lot of T-shirts.

“I bought about 30 dozen to start with,” Henderson says.

He set up a roadside stand in south Kansas City, and sales went so well, he bought another 30 dozen.

His best seller? The Royal Flush.

“That has five of the players on cards – ace, king, queen, jack, ten – and that’s the winning hand in poker,” Henderson says.

Henderson says the weekend’s losses to the Giants made his sales plummet. Tuesday night, he’d marked down prices to $10 a shirt.

But after last night’s win …

“Hopefully, sales will go up. And of course, you’ll be in the Game 7 of a World Series, so that’s huge. And if they win the next one, then that would be a major payday,” Henderson says.

And if the Royals lose?

“Oh, I’m gonna have a lot of T-shirts to eat,” Henderson says.

So for the sake of his business, as well as support of the home team, the entrepreneur has a message for the boys in blue:

“Go Royals, Go!”
