What's Showing In Independent, Foreign & Documentary Film

Netflix

You can never have too many movies about genetically-engineered super-pigs! Today, Up To Date's Film Critics return with to review the indie, foreign and documentary offerings now on Kansas City screens, including The Hero, The Beguiled, Okja, Beatriz at Dinner, The Exception, Megan Leavey, Paris Can Wait and Book of Henry. From a thrilling tale of World War II espionage and romance, to a genius 11-year-old's plan to save his friend, there's a little something for everyone. (And did we mention super-pigs?) We also meet the local director of The Tree, a story about lifelong friendship and an old-fashioned road trip through the Midwest.

When I host Up To Date each morning at 9, my aim is to engage the community in conversations about the Kansas City area’s challenges, hopes and opportunities. I try to ask the questions that listeners want answered about the day’s most pressing issues and provide a place for residents to engage directly with newsmakers.
