The future of the Kansas City School District is in the hands of write-in candidates. Three of the four races voters will decide on April 5 will be filled by write-in votes. On this edition of Up To Date, we speak with the three people vying for the 5th sub-district seat.

Guests:

  • Catina Taylor has been a teacher in both public and private schools throughout the metro for more than a decade. She’s currently a long-term substitute teacher at the African-Centered College Preparatory Academy.
  • Ajia Morris is vice president of Mission Advancement for Goodwill in Western MO & Eastern KS.
  • Rev. Bryan Dial is a minister with Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church.
When I host Up To Date each morning at 9, my aim is to engage the community in conversations about the Kansas City area’s challenges, hopes and opportunities. I try to ask the questions that listeners want answered about the day’s most pressing issues and provide a place for residents to engage directly with newsmakers.
