Brush Creek Art Walk Has KC Painters Competing In The Elements

Local artists are painting the town red (and other colors too) as the annual Brush Creek Art Walk competition strikes canvases next weekend, along the banks of Brush Creek. You can watch people create their works en plein air, but keep in mind that dealing with the great outdoors isn't as easy as the masters might make it seem.

Guests:

  • Alex Hamil is director of Brush Creek Art Walk.
  • Marcia Willman is a competing artist who works in watercolor.
  • Rebecca Tombaugh is a competing artist who favors ink and calligraphy pens.

The Brush Creek Art Walk kicks off on Friday, September 16, and continues through Sunday, September 18, along a four-mile stretch of the Country Club Plaza. For more information, visit KCParks.org.

When I host Up To Date each morning at 9, my aim is to engage the community in conversations about the Kansas City area’s challenges, hopes and opportunities. I try to ask the questions that listeners want answered about the day’s most pressing issues and provide a place for residents to engage directly with newsmakers. Reach me at steve@kcur.org or on Twitter @stevekraske.
