Missouri Sunshine Law Request Yields $1.5 Million Tab, Then $5,000, Then Outright Refusal

Back in February, a nonprofit group called Reclaim the Records filed requests for Missouri birth and death listings from 1910 through 2015.

The California-based outfit describes itself as a “group of genealogists, historians, researchers, and open government advocates who are filing Freedom of Information requests to get public data released back into the public domain.”

Midwest Genealogy Center Promotes Family History At Global Family Reunion Event

The Midwest Genealogy Center in Independence, Missouri participated in a national event Saturday to get area residents interested in their family history.

The Global Family Reunion is based in New York City, but satellite events were held all over the country. The Genealogy center had music, crafts and introductory steps for amateur genealogists to find out more about their ancestry.
