Kansas City, MO – One of the world's fastest women grew up in Kansas City. Since graduating from Central High School, Muna Lee's path has taken different twists and turns, but now it leads to Bejing.

Lee qualified in both the 100 and 200 meter dash in the track and field trials, earning a spot on the US Olympic team for a second time.

Kansas City, MO – The Royals played their season-opener this week against the Red Sox. They started off winning unexpectedly, 7-1 on Tuesday . . . but just as the weather chilled in Kansas City, so did the Royals luck. And they lost the next two games. But the games themselves were overshadowed by the major league pitching debut of a Japanese superstar . . . Daisuke Matsuzaka. He's becoming known in the US as Dice-K.

Kansas City, MO – The World Cup in Germany is winding its way down to the finals. Some Kansas Citians are glued to ESPN, and even more, to Univision. Soccer fans and other people connected to some of the countries left in the competition are gathering in places around town to watch the games. Sylvia Maria Gross gives us a rundown.

Kansas City, MO – With the World Cup on in Germany this month, we become aware of how important soccer is in so many cultures around the world. It's also becoming an essential part of suburban youth culture in the United States. But do young American soccer players become fans of the US team? And now that the US is out of the competition, are they following other country's soccer teams?

Kansas City, MO – Basketball icon Wilt Chamberlain's final game at the University of Kansas was in 1958 against in-state rival, Kansas State University. The Jayhawks trounced K-State, which at the time was the top-ranked team in the nation, 61 to 44. Chamberlain led his team to victory in that game, but he had already announced that he was planning to turn professional before graduation. It was an unprecedented decision at that time.
