KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Forecasters say the heat wave gripping the central U.S. is "unrelenting" and sweaty residents shouldn't expect any relief soon.

Hundreds of volunteers showed up over the weekend to spruce up five Independence schools.

Kansas is one of 27 states where homebuyers at risk of foreclosure can get federal funding to get back on their feet.

A suburban St. Louis ethanol company has won a $48 million judgment against a title company whose mistake caused it to bypass building a plant in Kansas.
