Kansas City, MO – The Marion and Henry Bloch Collection of 29 Impressionist works is considered one of the most important private collections of Impressionist art in the United States.

It's the result of more than 20 years of acquisition with guidance from Ted Coe, the former director of the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art. The collection includes works by Monet, Manet, Van Gogh, Gauguin, Cezanne, Renoir, and Degas, among others.

The collecting initiative to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art began in December 2008. Four works from the Bloch's collection will be on display in a special exhibition of highlights, called Magnificent Gifts for the 75th, on view February 13 - April 4, 2010.

The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art's Director/CEO Marc Wilson will retire on June 1, 2010. A new director is expected to be announced in the next few months.
