Kansas City, MO – With its frequent use in rap lyrics, movies and even as a greeting among some young African Americans, the N-word seems to have reached new levels of acceptance in mainstream American culture. On Saturday, the Kansas City Association of Black Journalists will host a forum with reporters, academics and hip hop artists entitled "The N-Word, have we really come that far?".
Delores Jones talked with KCABJ president Glenn Rice and founding member Lewis Duiguid, both of the Kansas City Star, about the history of the N-Word and why it still sparks so much debate.
The N-Word forum will be held at the Bruce R. Watkins Cultural Heritage Center on Saturday, April 22nd as part of the 25th Anniversary Celebration of the Kansas City Association of Black Journalists.
