Seg. 1: Problems With Pain | Seg. 2: Laura Moriarty

Segment 1: Problems with Pain.

Questions surrounding the treatment of pain are bigger than 'pill or no pill.' In this conversation, we explore cultural and philisophical ideas about pain and hear how those perceptions factor into treatment.

Segment 2, beginning at 36:52: Laura Moriarty.

Laura Moriarty, a Lawrence-based author, caught the attention of Downton Abbey's creator and star with her 2012 novel, The Chaperone. We visit with Moriarty to hear the story of having her book turned into a feature film.

People don't make cameos in news stories; the human story is the story, with characters affected by news events, not defined by them. As a columnist and podcaster, I want to acknowledge what it feels like to live through this time in Kansas City, one vantage point at a time. Together, these weekly vignettes form a collage of daily life in Kansas City as it changes in some ways, and stubbornly resists change in others.
