National parties pour millions into Missouri campaigns

KANSAS CITY – National political parties are tightly reined in how many and how much election dollars federal election laws will allow them to spend. One way national groups are circumventing restrictions on contributions is by handing cash over to their state counterparts to spend. A new report from the non-partisan Institute on Money in State Politics suggests the national parties spend more heavily in Missouri than they do in other states. K-C-U-R's Matt Hackworth spoke with the Institute's Denise Roth Barber, about hard money, soft money and how it's spent heavily in Missouri.
