Kansas City, Missouri – Ailey Camp, sponsored by the Alvin Ailey Dance Theater here in Kansas City, just began its 17th summer session.
Ailey Camp is 6 weeks of dance, creative arts, and personal development classes for middle schoolers from the metropolitan area - some high-risk, some privileged.
The program has been so successful it's been replicated in several cities across the country.
Today, we begin an occasional series - a profile of one Ailey camper.
