Leawood, KS – Kansas City lost an institution in more ways than one with the passing of Johnson County publisher Tom Leathers. Leathers founded the Squire in 1959 and hosted talk shows on area stations. His family says with Tom Leathers gone, the Squire will likely cease publication. Senator Charles Wheeler, former Overland Park mayor Ed Eilert and KC radio legend Mike Murphy comment on the outspoken journalist.
