Kansas City, MO – City health authorities confirmed that a 40-year-old man is hospitalized with West Nile disease. He is the first confirmed case in Kansas City this season.
A Missouri environmental group says a new study shows that global warming is increasing temperatures in the Missouri River basin. The group says without prompt attention to energy efficiency and emissions controls, the warming will lead to higher water bills, increased cost of living and longer periods of drought.

A survivors of clergy abuse group wants the name of the late Reverend Sylvester Hoppe off the chapel at Camp Geiger near St. Joseph. The naming honored Hoppe's 70-plus years of involvement with the Boy Scouts. But within the past 3 years, 3 men have filed lawsuits claiming Hoppe sexually abused them in the 1950's.
