A library staffer and an undercover cop meet at the Kansas City, Kansas public library. Now, they're on their way to present the film First Date at the Sundance Film Festival. By Laura Spencer and Sylvia Maria Gross

Kansas City, MO – Director Gary Huggins shot his 20 minute short, called First Date, in Kansas City, Kansas, and almost all the actors are people he met while working in the library. KCUR's Sylvia Maria Gross spoke to KCK police officer Santiago Vasquez, who plays an ex-con trying to keep a date with a teenage boy he met over the internet. But first, arts reporter Laura Spencer talked to director Gary Huggins.

FIRST DATE will be screened at Sundance and the Clermont-Ferrand Film Festival.
