Kansas City, MO – Just like the old days, it will just cost just a dime to see movies like Melvin van Peebles' Watermelon Man or Spike Lee's Bamboozled. A Celebration of Black Film will take a historical look at movies about the black experience and will premiere The 100 Best Black Films (EVER), a documentary written and directed by Fox 4 film critic Shawn Edwards. Edwards told Delores Jones how the movies for the piece were selected and which Hollywood stars had their say.

A CELEBRATION OF BLACK FILM at the Gem Theater kicks off this Saturday, February 3 with Shawn Edward's documentary The 100 Best Black Films (Ever). There will also be workshops on film-making and acting and a talk by the creator of the CW's sitcom Girlfriends--Mara Brock Akil, who's originally from Kansas City.
