Funding Boost for Mental Health

Kansas City, MO – The Health Care Foundation of Greater Kansas City is increasing funding this year for mental health care organizations around the area. KCUR's Kelley Weiss reports.

The Health Care Foundation, which supports KCUR's health coverage, is giving $7 million dollars in mental health grants to more than 50 providers. It's an increase of almost $2 million from last year's mental health funding and includes seven new organizations some of them schools, domestic violence shelters and trauma support centers. The Foundation will give a total of $23 million this year to help indigent and underserved patients get health care.

Funding for health care coverage on KCUR has been provided by the Health Care Foundation of Greater Kansas City.
