Kansas City, MO – Charges of capital murder, rape and aggravated sodomy were filed against Edwin Hall yesterday. Hall is charged with abducting and killing 19-year-old Kelsey Smith. Brian Burgess of the Johnson County District Attorney's office explained how yesterday's filings make it possible to seek the death penalty in the case.
Burgess says Kline has until August to make his announce to ask the Hall be executed. And Kline said he will await further analysis of evidence and consultation with Smith's Parents before he reaches his decision. On Monday, Edwin Hall was also charged this with indecent liberties with a 14 year old girl. Kline didn't elaborate except to say it wasn't Kelsey Smith.
