- The Kansas Senate Judiciary Committee narrowed the scope of a bill enacting new restrictions on smoking in public places.
- The Kansas House Appropriations Committee endorsed a juvenile justice system budget very much like the one proposed by Governor Sebelius, but delayed decisions on employee pay raises and computer upgrades.
- In Jefferson City, a new bill was introduced in the Senate that would cap the number of Missouri casinos, while increasing their taxes and repealing the loss limits for gamblers.
