New Productions and Classics for Black History Month

As Black History Month comes to a close, local theater groups are seeing out the month with varied productions, including a contemporary classic by Lorraine Hansberry and a new production. By Steve Walker

Kansas City, MO – A Kansas City, Kansas high school is presenting To Be Young, Gifted and Black, a contemporary classic by Lorraine Hansberry. And a community theater troupe is premiering a new script about the responsibility of young musicians to their impressionable fans. KCUR's Steve Walker reports. To Be Young, Gifted and Black at the YWCA Black Box Theatre, February 28 - March 1, 7 pm.

Trial of a Generation: The Mis-Education of Pookie Ray Jenkins at the Bruce R. Watkins Cultural Heritage Center, February 26 - March 1, 7 pm.
