Kansas City, MO –

  • Kansas Governor Kathleen Sebelius signed a number of bills today, but took no action yet on an economic development bill with two coal-fired power plants tagged onto it.
  • Earlier in the day, Sebelius, a Roman Catholic, was scolded publicly by her archbishop, who said the gopvernor should refrain from taking Communion until she publicly repudiates her support for abortion rights.
  • An effort by Planned Parenthood to overturn a new Missouri law toughening oversight of abortion clinics was rejected by a Jackson County judge today.
  • A Kansas City man notorious for burglarizing homes while owners were at funerals was found guilty today in connection with five Platte County burglaries.

  • Congress just eliminated federal funding for KCUR, but public radio is for the people.
