The heat index has hit 106 degrees downtown... 108 at KCI. Authorities advise efforts to stay cool and avoiding outdoor exercise till the heat wave passes on Wednesday.

The Kansas City Water Services Department has instituted its Heat Advisory Policy. No water service will be shut off through Tuesday because of the heat hazard.

Missouri has had its second tiger attack in as many days, again at an exotic animal facility. A teenage volunteer is in critical condition after being attacked in Branson.

Defunded, but not defeated.

Congress just eliminated federal funding for KCUR, but public radio is for the people.
