Kansas City, MO –

  • The Kansas City-St. Joseph Diocese today signed the $10 million settlement of 47 allegations of sexual abuse by clergy. Some defendents are displeased that not all of the accused priests will be defrocked.
  • Barack Obama says he has chosen his running mate and notified all candidates. Kansas Governor Sebelius acknowledged getting a call but wouldn't comment further.
  • Sprint land-based phone company spinoff Embarq says it will eliminate up to 700 jobs and 300 contract positions.
  • Kansas City's city attorney is asking council members to send him any messages from Gloria Squitiro after a voice message sent by the mayor's controversial wife appeared on a local web site.

  • KCUR prides ourselves on bringing local journalism to the public without a paywall — ever.
