Kansas City, MO – The 2008 Kansas City, MO homicide rate tops the 100 mark. As of Wednesday afternoon the city had recorded 101 homicides as compared with 94 for all of 2007.

  • TIF projects for the Citadel Plaza and Antioch Center renewals could come to a vote in tomorrow's council meeting. The two projects total $162 million in tax incentives.
  • The Democrats charge Missouri Republican for Treasurer Brad Lager with ethics violations for not itemizing meals and lodging expenses. Lager's campaign joked in response that he only eats M & M's and drinks water while campaining.

    (car-DEHT-ee), spokesman for the Democrats, says Lager only lists monthly spending totals for categories such as meals and lodging, instead of each individual expense:

    It's important that we have a State Treasurer that gonna be transparent with our state's finances and it really calls into question if Senator Lager's not willing to be transparent with his campaign finances, how's he gonna be able to be transparent and give the public the information they need about our state finances?

    The Lager campaign issued a tongue-in-cheek response, stating that Lager drinks water and eats M-and-M's while on the campaign trail.
