The Art and Business of Scaring in the West Bottoms

Halloween is still several weeks away, but Kansas City's big haunted houses are already up and running. KCUR's Alex Smith stopped by the Beast in the West Bottoms just before opening day to watch new and veteran employees prepare for another season of scaring.By Alex Smith

Kansas City, MO – This year mark the 35th anniversary of the Edge of Hell haunted house in Kansas City. The Edge of Hell and Beast are both run by Full Moon Productions, which was founded by haunted house designer Shannon Yates. Hear also from John Vandergrif, Hal Magis, Nick Padget, Amber Arnett Beckweth, Keaton Cole and Ted Willard.

Congress just eliminated federal funding for KCUR, but public radio is for the people.
