Kansas City, MO – Factions for and against a statewide referendum on Kansas City and St. Louis earnings taxes are in hot competition as initiative petitions circulate.

The Kansas House Taxation Committee will continue hearings on eliminating some sales tax exemptions this week, as a way to help fill budget hole in the coming fiscal year.

Legislative sessions in Missouri would end in late March instead of mid-May, under a resolution filed in the State Senate.

A Missouri House committee is considering a bill to help a financially troubled fund for injured workers.
