Kansas City, MO – Kansas City, Missouri will not get a new city department to manage construction projects. The city council voted that down 7 to 6 yesterday. But the city Human Relations Department was re-empowered in a last-minute move.

Missouri would lose three state holidays as part of Governor Jay Nixon's latest proposal to shrink the size of state government.

The Kansas Department of Transportation has released a study outlining plans to expand passenger rail service in the state.

The top-ranked Kansas Jayhawks defeated Texas Tech yesterday 80-68 in the Big 12 Conference tournament at the Sprint Center, while number-nine K-State cruised to an 83-64 win over Oklahoma State.

Congress just eliminated federal funding for KCUR, but public radio is for the people.
