The Nelson-Atkins Museum will soon open its long-awaited Egyptian galleries . At the center of the exhibit is a collection of 2,300-year-old funerary objects, including a coffin for an Egyptian noblewoman. Besides the collection of ancient works (which even includes a mummy!), the museum is also exhibiting a collection of 19th-century photographs that record the rediscovery of much of Egyptian art and culture. KCUR's Art Reporter Laura Spencer talks with two museum curators about the new exhibitions and the impact of Egypt on world history, culture and art.
