KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Kansas Department of Social and Rehabilitation Services has announced it will close its Lawrence office.

Kansas City-area taxpayers paid more than $10,000 to send city and county officials to this year's Major League Baseball All-Star Game.

The budget chief for Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback says there will be a renewed effort next year to reduce or get rid of state incomes taxes.
