Kansas Senate Committee Amends & Approves Governor's Tax Plan

A Kansas Senate committee has approved Governor Sam Brownback's proposal to cut income tax rates.  Read more here.

House Panel Approves Map with Wyandotte County in Rural 1st District

A House committee has approved a congressional map that puts part of Wyandotte County in the 1st District, which covers western Kansas.  House Speaker Mike O'Neal, a Republican from Hutchinson, says lawmakers had to add a community to the 1st, to equalize population between the four districts. Environmental Groups Sue EPA Over Nutrient Pollution

In a suit filed  by the Natural Resources Defense Council on behalf of the Mississippi River Collaborative and others, a coalition of environmental groups asked EPA to set limits on nitrogen and phosphorus in the waters of the Mississippi River Basin and northern Gulf of Mexico. The suit challenges EPA’s denial of a 2008 petition to the agency asking EPA to establish quantifiable nutrient pollution standards and cleanup goals.  Read more here.
