Charges Are Leveled, Denied 6 Months After Deadly JJ’s Blast

The contract drilling company suspected of opening a gas line before JJ’s Restaurant blew up in February will fight OSHA sanctions and fines.  One woman was killed in the explosion at the edge of Country Club Plaza.

What’s A Roaval?

The new road course constructed within the oval at Kansas Speedway will be the site of sports car competition for the first time this weekend. Pricier models such as Porches, Ferraris and BMWs are more associated with this group of drivers compared to the more common Chevy, Ford and Toyotas on the NASCAR circuit.

The Kansas City Baroque Consortium is an ensemble specializing in early music. For the past five years, audiences could usually find them playing in area churches. But on Friday, the group performs ribald, or downright naughty, English songs at a bar.  

Bonds Bogged In Crime Lab Conflict

The Kansas City council postponed approving the sale of up to $85 million in bonds for construction of a new East Patrol complex Thursday. The difficulty was in deciding how much needs to be spent and how much the city can afford.
