The Barclay Martin Ensemble showed no signs of pretentiousness when they entered the KCUR studios a couple of years ago. Their members are a kind, unassuming group of talented musicians - which is probably one of the reasons that Barclay Martin banded up with them in the first place.

Martin, who has traveled the world in search of learning more about the globe's population, releases his newest album this month

A traveler by nature, Barclay Martin's music reflects experiences wrought from taking the road less traveled. Having spent over three years of his life living abroad, Martin's songs speak of the ties that bind people - their hope and joy, sorrow, and struggle. Martin weaves stories throughout his shows, looking intimately into the places and the events that brought them about.

The Barclay Martin Ensemble will debut Pools That Swell With the Rain at the Folly Theater on September 24, 2010. A portion of proceeds from the album and merchandise, along with designated donations, will help fund new wells, sanitation infrastructure and health education in the Kyuso District of Kenya. Martin will be journaling the development of the project in Kenya with photos, video and writings on his website www.BarclayMartinEnsemble.com
