Aviva Okeson-Haberman joined KCUR in June 2019 as the Missouri politics and government reporter.

At KCUR, we take pride in offering interns the opportunity to develop journalism skills, but also to experience the working life of a journalist by embedding with a dynamic, hardworking group of professionals. Our expectations are high, but we're committed to teaching and mentoring those willing to work hard.

Interns must embrace a commitment to thorough, behind-the-headlines coverage of the Kansas City metro by paying attention to news and current events.

This is a full-time, 40 hours/week internship.

Summer sessions: Thanks to generous support from Aviva’s family, friends and the KCUR, KBIA and University of Missouri communities, an endowed fund has been established to support the summer News internship. Aviva was a proud graduate of the Missouri School of Journalism at the University of Missouri and had interned at KCUR while completing her studies there. Named in her honor, the summer Aviva Okeson-Haberman News internship program provides an opportunity for emerging journalists.

During summer sessions, special consideration will be given to students or recent graduates of the Missouri School of Journalism at the University of Missouri.
