91.9 Classical KC is Kansas City area’s first full-time classical music service in nearly 20 years. We seek to be an ambassador of all things classical, bringing music to and from Kansas City that is both rich and traditional as well as contemporary and inclusive. We are a non-profit and mission-driven station alongside our sister station, KCUR 89.3, NPR in Kansas City.

Classical KC interns are involved in multiple aspects of station operations and programming. We seek candidates with classical music backgrounds who are interested in learning how to broadcast the message of classical music in all its forms to diverse audiences. Interns assist with program selection and production, help execute Classical KC’s digital and social strategies and form partnerships with local musicians and classical music ensembles.

Interns learn about public radio programming, audience development, marketing and public relations and public radio membership. Candidates should have excellent verbal, written and digital communication skills, audio editing skills (we use Adobe Audition), a passion for public radio and a knack for connecting classical music to audiences of every level of classical knowledge.

This is a part-time internship.
