Independence, MO – 18 year old Taylor Marquez is sentenced to life in prison for the July 2006 knife-murder of his mother. Pamela Marquez was stabbed at least seven times in the bedroom of the Grain Valley, Mo. home she shared with her husband and son. Her husband Joe Marquez, an assistant U.S. attorney, was knifed but survived. Taylor was 16 years old at the time. A co defendant, Eddie George was same age as Taylor. He admitted using the knife and is also serving a life sentence. The gnawing question remains, why? And Jackson County Prosecutor Jim Kanatzer says it will have to linger forever, because there is no rational reason. Preliminary hearing testimony indicated the boys rebelled at perceived unfair discipline meted out by the mother.
