For Johnson County Community College students who want to take classes at the University of Kansas, things are going to get a whole lot easier, according to JCCC officials.
The two schools will roll out a new partnership program that will allow JCCC students to enroll in general education courses at the community college while also taking upper-level courses in their field of study at KU's Edwards or Lawrence campuses.
JCCC Articulation Development Coordinator JD Gragg says the partnership makes sense because 400 to 500 JCCC students typically end up taking classes at KU each year.
"There are a lot of students who dual-enroll in JCCC and KU already," Gragg said. "What we're trying to do is create one educational experience between the schools where students can get two degrees within one seamless system."
The partnership will automatically transfer transcripts and financial aid between both schools for students who sign up for the program. The partnership kicks off Sept. 30 with an event on JCCC's campus.
