KCUR's Transmitter Campaign Was A Success Thanks To You

Thanks to everyone who helped keep KCUR's signal strong for years to come.
All of us at KCUR were amazed by the response of listeners like you who provided support to our transmitter campaign. In a pandemic, as people were enjoying summer travels, when there were plenty of reasons to defer, more than 1,725 of you said, “Yes, I’ll help.”
This support allowed us to go beyond our goal and claim the full $250,000 in matching challenge funds from the Sunderland Foundation to replace our aging transmitter and extend our HD programming for both KCUR and Classical KC.
The new transmitter unit will be installed by October, along with a new air-conditioning and heating system to protect the unit from temperature extremes. Then once warmer temperatures return next spring, we’ll replace the cable connecting the transmitter to the 850-ft. tower antenna.
Thanks to the community’s support for our new transmitter, KCUR’s programming news will remain accessible to millions in our region for decades to come.
Support for KCUR’s transmitter comes from The Sunderland Foundation, The H & R Block Foundation and our generous listeners.
