Sleet, snow, and possibly a record low temperature for March - it's all moving our way.
The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for the Kansas City metro area in effect from Saturday at 6 p.m. to Monday at midnight. According to the NWS, four to eight inches of snow is possible, as well as up to one inch of sleet.
Dangerously cold wind chills are predicted for Sunday and Monday. Record cold temperatures are expected on Sunday. Wind chills on Monday morning could fall 5 to 10 degrees below zero.
In Kansas City, Mo., city snow crews will get to work on primary and arterial routes tonight and plan to "work around the clock to clear snow." Residential snow crews will begin to plow residential neighborhoods on Sunday. Area cities, such as Kansas City, Lawrence, Kan., Olathe, Kan., and Overland Park, Kan., offer maps to track the progress of snow removal.
