Historically Black Americans have marched for freedom and ran the long race for equality. In modern times there is a different race to be ran, a literal movement to be undertaken and that’s keeping pace with personal health, running the race against time itself.
On this Monday's Central Standard, a look at an area program working to teach the KC urban core about the importance of exercise for better health and obesity prevention. Our guest Melissa Robinson, President and CEO of the Black Health Care Coalition, even signed herself up for a three-month health and weight loss program through Truman Medical Center. We’ll hear what she’s learned, and how her organization will bring these lessons to KC’s black and youth populations at the upcoming Let's Move 5k Run/Walk. Plus, State Senator Kiki Curls joins us to talk about the public-private partnerships that go into this weekend's health and safety fair.
