Presidents have always had to face critical reviews in the press, and perhaps no one knew this better than Theodore Roosevelt.
The former president’s mannerisms and look were ripe for ridicule on the editorial cartoon pages of the day.
Thursday on Up to Date, writer and cartoon historian Rick Marschall tells us about how the caricatures affected Roosevelt’s third run for the presidency and his famous foreign policy of “speak softly and carry a big stick.”
