Read (And Discuss) 'A God In Ruins' With KCUR's Morning Edition Book Club

A well-known writer chooses a book — and we all read it. That's the premise of NPR's Morning Edition Book Club.

On Tuesday, Kansas City native and best-selling author Gillian Flynn (Dark PlacesGone Girl, Sharp Objects) shared her pick for the Book Club: Kate Atkinson’s A God in Ruins, a companion to the 2013 novel Life After Life. The story takes place in postwar Britain and it's told through the lens of one family.

Guest curator Gillian Flynn told NPR's David Green that Atkinson "does this wonderful thing where she makes it very hard for you to solely dislike a character, even when they're doing very, very bad things."

KCUR is hosting our own Morning Edition Book Club event — and we invite you to attend!

Join us Tuesday, June 9 at 7 pm* to discuss the book, and some of our Book Club members will appear as guests that Friday on Up to Date to give their feedback on the air. Then listen to Morning Edition on Tuesday, June 16 for a conversation with author Kate Atkinson. It's an NPR exclusive, as it's the author's only media appearance for this new novel.

Have questions for the author? You can share them on Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram with the hashtag #morningeditionbookclub. Download the Book Club guide here
