Up To Date's Indie, Foreign & Doc Critics' 'Three To See,' May 27-May 29

Sundance Insistute

This long holiday weekend is the perfect opportunity to go see one of these flicks, recommended by Up To Date's indie, foreign and documentary film critic Steve Walker. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll hopefully avoid getting caught in an unpredictable downpour.

Love & Friendship, PG

  • A wry comedy of manners based on Jane Austen's novella Lady Susan, featuring a delicious Kate Beckinsale as a diabolical snob.

A Bigger Splash, R

  • Ralph Fiennes and Tilda Swinton play two parts of a sexy foursome grappling with their interconnected histories, betrayals, and indiscretions.

The Man Who Knew Infinity, PG-13

  • A flawed but moving biopic of an impoverished mathematical genius from India who rises through the ranks at Trinity College.
