Extraordinary Black Missourians

The so-called Crown Act was signed by Missouri Gov. Mike Kehoe on July 9. Missouri became the 28th state to pass legislation that makes it illegal to discriminate based on the texture or style of one's hair.

The Black Youth Coalition Network wants to be a leading voice among Kansas City's youth. Their professional development programs and community activism is catching the eyes of Black leaders.

Studies show Black women are among the most well educated demographic, and they say they're speaking out, wearing natural hair and wanting the same as their white colleagues, paving the road for the next generation.
